WCA
cte for students, no matter the zip code
Building on the success of the public-private partnership that built Salem-Keizer’s CTEC, Mountain West teamed up with the Willamette Education Service District to bring trade and career development opportunities to students at 21 districts in the region. Mountain West purchased an old Toys ‘R Us building and renovated it to accommodate 7 different trade programs that students can participate in at no cost. The Willamette Career Academy serves as a regional center for career and technical innovation, emphasizing the power of connection and collaboration. Since its establishment in 2021, the academy has progressively expanded its reach to encompass students within the Marion, Polk, and Yamhill counties in Oregon. Operating as an "Extension Program," the WCA's primary objective is to provide school districts with opportunities for students to explore various trades and careers. The focus of each program is to facilitate students' progression toward a career or their preparedness for higher education and beyond.
In partnership with a diverse group of 19 private schools and school districts in the Marion, Polk, and Yamhill counties, the WCA enables students to attend the academy at no cost, with each educational institution purchasing a designated number of seats for interested students, permitting students to learn halftime at our program while continuing their high school path to graduation.
